Why Should I Support the Greenwood Gator Fund?
The 2019-2020 campaign will support a number of critical programs for our students, with priorities going towards:
- Provide Dreambox for our students (k-5th Grade)
Digital resource providing creative math programs, helped our students raise SOL’s in math in 2018-2019
- Building our book Room (K-5th Grade)
Enhancing the authentic selection of books to match the diversity of our school and providing teachers with 6 copies of a book to use in a small group reading station.
- Lay turf in Gaga pit (K-5th Grade)
Provide student year-round access to a game which develops physical skills and abilities.

Greenwood elementary school is home to 600+ students representing over 45 different counties. Aside from our cultural diversity, our families span the gamut of socio-economic needs, as 48% of our students participate in free and/or reduced breakfast/lunch. Our classrooms are comprised of students with all academic ability levels collaborating on a daily basis. Our school houses several Pre-Kindergarten classes and other programs to accommodate students with special needs and our growing population. We want to see our children enjoying school, and we want to feel confident that their school community is close-knit, supportive and active in their growth and development. You can be part of this!
What’s our Goal?
With your help, we can meet our goal of raising $15,000 to support our goals and supplement the PTA’s ability to:
- Stock teachers’ supply lists
- Send our Gators on field trips
- Provide tutoring for our Gators for SOL prep so we can achieve Blue Ribbon status
- Show appreciation for our teachers with monthly luncheons
- Continue to improve our After-School Enrichment Program with STEM, arts, sports equipment & supplies
- Provide support for the new Makerspace, improving our Gators’ STEM and 21st century tech readiness
- Plan and put on fun filled community building events that unite us as a Gator family such as Fall Festival, Winter Make-Night, Talent Show, International Night, Spring Formal and Field Day
- Provide our Gators with green communications folders, upgraded water fountains, spirit wear and school agendas
- Design, create and distribute yearbooks
- Provide safety and mentorship for our Gators through the Watch DOG program
- Help maintain our school garden

Subject: A Small Donation Can Make a Difference at My Child’s School
My child’s school is hosting a one-time, direct give fundraiser this year – the Gator Fund! Our goal is to raise $15,000 during the month of September to cover critical resources for Greenwood Elementary students. Donations are tax free and 100% of the money you give will go directly to the school. I am emailing to ask for your support of my child’s school.
The Greenwood Gator Fund supports critical programs for Greenwood students, including the purchase of digital resources to develop their math skills with programs that have proven successful in helping our children achieve higher test scores. In addition, your generosity will directly support our family and community engagement events and provide other resources for our teachers’ classrooms including support of the Book Room.
